Meet Ashley!

Hello friends!! Welcome to our new blog!! I'm Ashley from Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd and I am THRILLED to be a part of this collaborative journey with some absolutely amazing teachers!  My digital teaching journey is a bit of newer one; however, I've been at this teaching thing for a while now!

Allow me to back up and tell you a little bit about me! :)

The basics . . . .I'm a morning person, I have a ton of enthusiasm and energy (prior to 7 pm) annnnnd I love all things coffee, all things organized, all things chevron, and all things TARGET :) . . .

Born and raised in central Pennsylvania, I am a 2005 Penn State graduate - WE ARE! - and, other than my job, I have more pride about being a Penn Stater than anything else in my life! My family bleeds blue and white and all you'd have to do is set foot inside my classroom or be behind me on the highway to figure that out! haha

that's my little sister and me tailgating in Happy Valley :) :)

After I graduated in 2005, I was hired the following school year as a first grade teacher in my home town - which was my ABSOLUTE DREAM JOB!! I had wanted to be a first grade teacher for as long as I could remember.  Add that fact to me getting to teach every day across the hall from my best friend in the world, I was one one happy teacher with some fabulous firsties to mold!   I am positive that I couldn't have asked for anything more!

Enter hubby.

Long story short - I met my husband, Ryan, on the beach while we were on family vacations in 2004.  Our story is a pretty crazy and fate filled one that I'll save for another day, but after we met and our relationship got serious, I knew that I would be leaving my dream job of teaching firsties with my best friend. {enter sad string music here}

SO after teaching 1st grade for 5 years in PA, I got married in 2011, moved to Ohio, and was hired to teach a new group of firsties at a charter school outside of Cleveland.  I met some of the most amazing friends while teaching there, who will be near and dear to my heart forever, but after a year, I was thrilled to have been hired a little bit closer to our new home further south of Cleveland at a public school teaching 2nd grade - which is my current position.

I was nervous about 2nd grade.  I knew first graders in and out! What was I supposed to do with 2nd graders?!  Little did I know . . . . 2nd graders are AWESOME.  I LOVE them…. and I kind of sort of think that it's my favorite grade ever.  JUSTTT sayin' :).

Here's a little bit of a peek inside my 2nd grade *home* this year!

Be sure to follow my blog, Facebook, Instagram, or TPT store so that you don't miss all of the shenanigans going on in room 201!

Now, I am so thankful for his newest digital step in my teaching career that I really dove into in October and that it has brought me to all of you!!! I can't tell you how much I have absolutely loved and have been inspired getting to "meet" and to know all of you via blogs, IG, facebook, and TPT! I am SO inspired every single day by so many of you.  I LOVE hearing from you and bouncing our ideas back and forth as well as bouncing our ideas all over the world.  I absolutely LOVE the network and the all star teaching team that my blog and technology has allowed me to become a part of in these last several months, and I am SO so glad to get to continue that journey with you all by way of our new Collaboration Connection! Thank you for connecting with us! :)

  1. Love the lanterns in your room! I've got a bunch too, but not fun ones like that! Where'd you snag those?

  3. I love that you are so new to this too, even though you are so beyond where I am!! It does give me hope that, with a little less sleep (and maybe a little more coffee) I could one day be as amazing as you!! :) Isn't it crazy the things we do for the men in our lives!?! I too had to move, and leave my friends for where the hubby wanted to go! Now I wouldn't change it for the world, but I can't wait to hear the rest of your story!!

    1. You are so sweet, and your comments ALWAYS make me smile!! The timing of my hubby studying for his CPA and me deciding to jump into the blogging/TPTing world worked out - he's crazy busy studying, so I just keep crazy busy establishing Schroeder Shenanigans :) :) I will definitely have to share my story some day. Honestly, it's like something out of a Nicholas Sparks book! haha!
